Using A Treadmill To Improve Your Health
By Dave Faulkner
It's so easy to let yourself be lazy and make excuses for not exercising. My personal favorites are that I'm too busy, I don't like going to gyms, and I don't have the workout set I need to do it at home.
A treadmill offers a great solution to all of these excuses: You can use it at home anytime, and it's the only thing you need for a good, cardiovascular workout. Even if you're not a big exercise freak, using a simple treadmill in your own home has some great health benefits for you.
The Treadmill Is Good For Your Heat
Treadmills give you a great aerobic workout. A treadmill is a wonderful way to get your heart pumping, which is something all of us could do more often.
Of course, just using a treadmill isn't a comprehensive workout routine; you also need proper nutrition, stretching and weight training to have a good over-all health plan. But, for those of us who need a little aerobic exercise and don't want to head out to a gym, a treadmill offers a great way to get your blood pumping in your own home.
A good aerobic exercise three times a week can do wonders for your heart. Lack of aerobic exercise is a major component in heart disease and heart attack risk. Unfortunately, most of us live very sedentary lifestyles, so our hearts don't naturally get the workout we need.
Burn Up Those Calories
You can lose those extra pounds and get back into those clothes you outgrew with a treadmill. When you're trying to lose weight, you may feel self-conscious jogging around the neighborhood. You want your neighbors looking at you AFTER you take off the pounds. With a treadmill, you can start losing pounds in the privacy of their own homes!
Treadmills can be set to any speed you want to work out at. Brisk walking is good cardiovascular exercise, but to really burn those calories, you'll need to crank that baby up. You can use your treadmill for as little as 15 or 20 minutes a day and start seeing results fast.
Fight Fatigue
Sometimes, chronic fatigue is caused by lack of exercise. Your body is not used to rigorous activity, so everyday things wear you out. As a result, you may not be sleeping well.
A steady treadmill exercise routine, no matter how light, can make you feel like you have more energy. If you get your heart and blood pumping just a little bit every day, you'll notice that you sleep better and have more energy when you're awake. It doesn't have to be much; even a few times a week will produce results.
One word of warning: Don't overdo it at first. Too much exercise too soon can hurt the next day. It's not healthy to push yourself too hard. Start with just 15 minutes and see how you feel. As you build up stamina, you'll be able to spend more time on it.
There's nothing like noticing your results! After just a week you'll notice that you feel better and your heart will thank you.
